Through the Valley

F. Scott Fitzgerald is claimed to have once said, “In the real dark night of the soul it is always three o’clock in the morning.” (Fitzgerald. 1945).

To those many people who have never suffered from a major depression, this dark and hopeless statement may seem like an unrealistic exaggeration.
How can a person be so morbid? Can’t they just look on the bright side? After all, happiness is a choice, isn’t it Just take a walk have a bubble bath, and you’ll be fine.
This advice might be helpful to person who is having a bad day, or even a bad week. But in suffocating space of the depressed person’s mind, there is no bright side. There is no choice, there is no other way.
